Organized own orch. and played at West Point Military Academy and at New York Military Acad., Corn­wall, N.Y. and at dances throughout Hudson Valley. Then to New York as pianist in popular music publishing houses and for various vocalists on major networks. Composed motion picture scores, London 1938. For many years pianist and organist in motion picture theaters beginning Lexington, Ky., 1896, specializing in sound effects. First to play pipe or­gan in motion picture theater, Bronx, N.Y. 1912. Scored films: The Hunch­back of Notre Dame; Ben Hur; Last Days of Pompeii; The Black Crook. Inventor of special registration for use in any type pipe organ, for per­formance of piano music. Specializes in recitals of traditional movie music, demonstrating with old silent films technic of the Nickelodeons. Works for piano: "]ack in the Box"; "Fleur de Lys"; "Gay Cavalier." For violin, "Ecstasy"; large catalog of mood music used in motion picture produc­tion, including Stampede; Indian War Dance; Indian Love Song; Railroad Hurry; Indian Lament; Melody of the Bell.
