Cluck Old Hen TML # 001998
Click Play Speed Slow 1/4=120 Medium 1/4=150 Fast 1/4=210

This delightful old song uses myxolydian mode and is very popular with old time music fans. It is performed as both a vocal and instrumental dance tune. Commonly played quite fast in A. (Banjo and guitar playing G shape with capo 2) If you are just a chord strummer you can make this sound better if you can substitute an A# for the A note in your F chord. (3rd fret on G string instead of the second.)
Chor
My old hen's a good old hen
She lays eggs for the railroad men
Sometimes eight sometimes ten
Thats enough for the railroad men

Cluck old hen cluck and sing
Ain't laid an egg since late last spring
Cluck old hen cluck and squall
Ain't laid an egg since late last fall

Cluck old hen, cluck I tell yer,
Cluck old hen, I'm gonna sell yer.
Cluck old hen, cluck I tell yer,
Cluck old hen, I'm gonna sell yer.

Hen oh hen where's your chickins gone,
Down in the new ground pickin up corn.
Hen oh hen where's your chickins gone,
Down in the new ground pickin up corn.
