Columbus sailed from Ireland, 'twas on Saint Patrick's day;
Sez he, "I've a mind to go and find the road to Amerikay;
And I think," sez he, "me aim will be to rush the v'yage through,
And be on hand to discover the land before them Dagos do."
Chorus.
Hey, Columbus! Captain Columbus sailed across the say,
And found a place for the Irish race in North Amerikay.
They sailed along by the West Indees, but the captain mairly bowed;
Sez he, wid a smile, "It ain't worth while to discover you Dago crowd."
So they kept at work till Newry Yark was plain in sight of all;
Then give a shout, and sez they, "Look out! O Faix, there's Tammany Hall!"
Chorus.
Hey, Columbus! Captain Columbus sailed across the say,
And found a place for the Irish race in North Amerikay.
They made thimselves feel quite at home, and sure that wasn't hard,
For aich of the crew, as Irishmen do, was soon the boss of a ward.
And ye'll find to-day, if ye go that way, their childers there this minute,
And the City Hall suppurts them all-the Dago isn't in it.
Chorus.
Hey, Columbus! Captain Columbus sailed across the say,
And found a place for the Irish race in North Amerikay.
