The Best Little Wife in the World.
Copyright, 1879, by T. B. Kelly.
From the world's busy scenes I've a dear little nest.
Where I haste when the day's toil is o'er;
For it's there that I find sweetest comfort and rest,
When I enter its low humble door.
Now of course, I delight in my home warm and bright,
And the room by the fire-glow impearl'd:
But or there I'd not care, were I not welcom'd there
By the best little wife in the world.
Chorus.
Such a dear little wife, she's the joy of my life;
And in life's busy cares as I'm whirl'd,
It is many a day that I lovingly sayShe's the best little wife in the world.
Oh! no king is more proud, as he sits on his throne,
Than I am in my own cosy nest,
Where, like music to me, my wife's merry tone,
As she gives me a loving caress.
She is gentle and kind, like an angel I find,
When life's cares o'er my pathway are whirl'd;
She is winsome and sweet, and so loving and neat;
Yes, the best little wife in the world.-Chorus.
As I sit by the fire, with her close by my side,
Oh! I think of the many, to-day,
Who have no loving heart for their comfort and guide,
As they journey o'er life's troubled way.
Take a lesson from me, ye who single may be,
Let your bachelor banners be furel'd;
Find a girl who will make, without any mistake,
You the best little wife in the world. - Chorus.
