The Ilkeston Folk and Blues Club

The Thursday Session At The Stute ILKESTON DE7 4AZ 8pm start The session is run once a fortnight, see below for dates. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in, there is no set agenda and you wont be pressured into performing! we just play and/or sing along together as we please. There will be all levels of players from the very good to novices, so you won't be too good or not good enough to join us and there is often a sharing of knowledge and sometimes some teaching goes on as well, all in all we are just a group of like minded people enjoying good company in pleasant surroundings. We are a friendly club always keen to see new faces, old friends and encourage new performers. We have open mic nights and we try to give everyone the opportunity to do something, be it singing, playing an instrument or something else. Although we call ourselves a folk club we enjoy many styles of music and a typical night might include traditional & modern folk music, blues, country music. We do ask that you perform live on the night, the use of recorded backing tracks is discouraged

North Central Folk Dance and Song Group is part of the Camping and Caravanning Club Folk dance and Song Group. We are a friendly group of people who like dancing, music and chatting! We usually have a village hall on site or nearby were we hold music and dance evenings.Sometimes the hall is open most of the day and we get together to play musical instruments, sing and dance. There can be folk song and dance workshops, beginner's dance workshops, craft activities, communal dinners, tea time socials, games and quizzes. In the summer months we often have activities outside .. communal barbecues, maypole dancing, morris dancing, music sessions, organised walks. In our group there are lots of friends to be made and there is nearly always something to do!
