THE GALLANT TROURADOUR.
This song, as well as " Dunois the Brave," formed part of a manuscript collection of French songs which were said to have been picked up on the field of Waterloo, by a gentleĀman whose daughter transferred them to Sir Walter Scott, who made the translations. Scott says they probably formed part of a collection made by an officer, and adds that the manuscript was so much stained with blood and clay as sufficiently to indicate the fate of its late owner. |
