I LO'ED NE'ER A LADDIE BUT ANE.
The first stanza of this song, was written by Eey. John Chenie, minister of Borthwick, in Mid-Lothian, who died in 1819, at the age of sixty-two. The remaining four stanzas were written by Hector Macneill. The air is an adaptation of the Irish melody, " My lodging is on the cold ground."
