DO WE WANT HIM? WELL, I SHOULD SAY SO!
Copyright. 1896. by P. J. Meahl.

Of the coming great election there's a thought in every mind,
Do we want him? Well, I should say so!
'Tis but a simple question, and the answer you will find,
Do we want him? Well, I should say so!
Now there is but one candidate who's fit to make the race:
There may be others running, but they can't keep up the pace,
For Bill McKinley's sure to win and beat them all for place.
Do we want him? Well, I should say sot

Quartet Refrain.
Bill, Bill, Bill, McKinley Bill!
The poor man's notes will turn to votes
For Bill McKinley Bill!
A dollar worth a hundred cents
In buying bread or paying rents.
And every man of common sense
Will vote for dear old Bill.

We have had reform-a sorry kind-'twas quite a painful task;
Do we need it? Well, I should say not!
Give us protection that protects! with Bill-that's all we ask;
Will we get it? Well, I should say so!
And Bill has had experience in governing, they say;
Old England may object to him, but she has had her day;
But that is why we want him - when we get him he will stay.
Do we want him? Well, I should say so!- Quartet Refrain.

When the wheels of industry are clogged, the people feel so sad.
Do we want him? Well. I should say so!
The country needs prosperity, and needs it mighty had.
Do we want it? Well, I should say So!
They tinkered with the tariff, yet it doesn't seem to work:
The ghosts of broken promises through the capitol now lurk;J
We're in the same condition as Armenia with the Turk.
Do we want him? Well, I should say so!- Quartet Refrain.

Let's put our shoulder to the wheel, and set it going 'round,
Will we do it? Well, I should say so!
Let's vote for men of principle who stand on solid ground.
Do we need them? Well, I should say so!
Bill always keeps his promises. Defeat he never met.
He's always with his party, and he never failed it yet;
And Bill's a true American on all things, you can bet.
Do we want him? Well, I should say so!- Quartet Refrain.
