A VOICE ON THE WAVE.
Copyright, 1892, by Willis Woodward & Co.
Words and Music by Chas. P. Edison.
I heard a voice on the wave, as we swiftly sailed along;
'Twas a darksome night, no land in sight, no sound but the waves' wild song;
Our ship was homeward bound, I was dreaming of loved ones dear,
When an angel voice made my heart rejoice with its song so sweet and clear.
Chorus.
"Welcome home, love so true, fondly still I wait for you!"
A voice on the wave I heard in my dream, it came like a heavenly tone;
It rang thro' the night with love And delight-the voice of my darling, my own.
Like music sweet in my dream came Hint voice with magic spell;
And I saw again beyond the main the land that I loved So well;
My love's sweet faith if told, and I saw her, with smile of joy,
On the shore afar like a guiding star for her roving sailor boy.- Chorus.
