It seems to be related to "Well, She Ask Me in De Parlor" in Odum and Johnson, The Negro and His Songs, p. 258- Cf. also "She Hugged Me and Kissed Me" in Talley, Negro Folk Rhymes, p. 131; and Cambiaire, East Tennessee and West-em Virginia Mountain Ballads, p. 21 ("The Soldier Boy").
