No. 118
I Whipped My Horse
Pentatonic. Mode 3.
Sung by Mrs. Jane Gentry at Hot Springs, N. C, Sept. 15, 1916
2   I fed my horse in a poplar trough,
And there he caught the whooping cough.
3   I fed my horse in a silver spoon, And then he kicked it over the moon.
4   My old horse is dead and gone,
But he left his jaw bones ploughing the corn.
