HIS PASSION AND CRUCIFIXION
166
2 We pray Thee, grant us strength to take    4 And day by day, 0 Lord, we ask Our daily cross, whate'er it be,                    That holy memories of Thy cross
And gladly for Thine own dear sake            May sanctify each common task, In paths of pain to follow Thee.                  And turn to gain each earthly loss.
I 3 As on our daily way we go,
Through light or shade, in calm or strife, I Oh, may we bear Thy marks below
In conquered sin and chastened life.
5 Grant us, dear Lord, our cross to bear Till at Thy feet we lay it down,
Win through Thy blood our pardon .there, And through the cross attain the crown.
Bishop W. W. How, 1871

2 Have we no tears to shed for Him, While soldiers scoff and Jews deride? Ah, look how patiently He hangs; Jesus, our Lord, is crucified.
t A broken heart, a fount of tears Ask, and they will not be denied;
Lord Jesus, may we love and weep, Since Thou for us art crucified.
4 O love of God! O sin of man!
In this dread act your strength is tried; And victory remains with love; For Thou, our Lord, art crucified!
Rev. Frederick W. Fabek, 1849
