Words and Music by G E. Beale, Jr.
In a pretty little cottage, on a very quiet street,
There lives a happy couple, with a baby boy an sweets.
Ev'ry evening, just at sundown, you will hear two tiny feet
Todd'ling down the sidewalk, with a kiss to papa greet;
Papa picks him up, there comes mamma, too.
"Now," the little one he cries, "I want to play ball with you."
Chorus
I want to play ball with you, papa; I want to play ball with you:
Come and play with your little boy, He's been waiting all day for you.
I am awfully glad to see you, papa, for I love you fond and true;
You take the bat and I'll take the ball and throw it right at you.
In the morn when he awakes the first thing you'll hear him say,
"Where is papa, where has he gone-oh, has he gone away?"
"Yes, my darling, he has gone out now to earn our daily bread,"
Says the loving mother, as she smoothes his golden head.
Where is my base-ball, and where is my bat?
Pupa said he'd play with me, so please remember that- Chorus.
